Our mission

Practical care, offered with dignity.

The Tent Project helps people experiencing homelessness access essential shelter supplies — new tents, sleeping bags, warm coats and jackets — in Santa Clara and San Jose.

What we do

Essentials for the nights in between.

  • New tents that offer basic shelter and protection.
  • Sleeping bags to help people stay warmer through cold nights.
  • Warm coats and jackets for protection against the cold.

Brand-new items only. Out of respect for the people we serve, the project only buys or distributes new tents and sleeping bags.

Why it matters

Dignity doesn't wait for housing.

Ending homelessness takes housing, services and time. We don't claim to replace any of that. But while longer-term help is sought, people still face cold and wet nights — and practical protection makes a real difference to how those nights feel.

We believe help should be offered with respect: new items, given simply, without judgment.

Start somewhere

You may not be able to change everything. But you can help someone tonight.

Give your time, tell us about a need in your area, or help us reach more neighbors. Every meaningful act of care starts somewhere.
